[Elecraft] Tapping and Downconverting K2 IF

I am getting ready to build a synchronous-am 
detector to play around with.  It's primary use 
will be as an accessory to my SWL receiver  
(still hoping for an Elecraft general coverage 
receiver kit to come out one of these days), but 
I thought I might try to use it also with the K2 
to receive 31 meter band short wave signals.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to tap into the the 
K2's IF stage out put and downconvert it to 455 
khz (the input freq. utilized by the synch 
detector board)?  Anyone out their already 
designed a mixer/buffer circuit I could use, or 
installed an IF output in their K2?
