[Elecraft] HP48GX to KIO2

I have seen several different diagrams for the wiring of a null modem =
cable
(or adapter). In general, the RX and TX lines will be swapped, several
others are swapped (CTS, RTS, etc.) and some are jumpered. Search the
internet for examples if interested. (http://www.ctips.com/rs232.html)
Years ago some PCs had both DTE and DCE connectors and thus there could =
be
what was called a null modem connector which was real just converting =
the
one to the other. =20
Your best bet is to make an adapter that would interface the HP48 cable =
to
the K2 using the information provided in the KIO2 (or KPA100) manual. =
This
would assure that the other signals coming from the K2 are not shorted =
or
erroneously activated by the HP48. You should only need RX, TX, and GND =
(2,
3 & 5) on the K2.

Subject: [Elecraft] HP48GX to KIO2
I am trying to send commands to the KIO2 using my HP48GX calculator. I =
have
the cable to connect the calculator to a computer. By using a paper clip =
I
was able to jumper the connector to the K2 and switch the RX and TX =
lines. I
successfully sent a command to the K2. Is this what a Null Modem cable =
does?
