Sounds like the K2 Hyperterm is hearing the K2 OK. The K2 does not echo any 
characters sent to it. (You can turn on local echo in Hyperterm).

To see if the K2 is hearing characters sent to it, try sending it a serial 
command like FA; You should get the same FA frequency response you got with 
the test set up.

Also make sure hyperterm has the comport set up -not- to use hardware handshaking.
