[Elecraft] Woo Hoo! K2 3490 is on the air.

Well, not quite yet. I still have to get an antenna up, but "on the
air" sounds better than "on the dummy load." :-)

Everything went exactly as described in the instructions and worked
perfectly from the first power on test to the last 12 meter transmitter
alignment. It took about 44 hours from parts inventory to final
assembly. The only problem I had was the too-small mic hole in the front
panel sheet metal (which Scott at Elecraft replaced within a few days,
thanks Scott!) I'd also like to thank whoever wrote the assembly manual.
The fact that I could build such a rig with no mistakes and no rework is
due much more to the clarity and completeness of the instructions than
to my kit building ability. Of course, thanks to Eric and Wayne for
designing such a great rig and having the gumption to bring it to
market. And finally, thanks to those who hang out here on the email
list. I didn't have to call on you much, but knowing help was just an
email away was comforting.

I'm just becoming active again after about 10 years of total QRT.
Building the K2 was the perfect way to get back into ham radio. That
and the look the lady gave me at the drug store when I said I needed 4
quarts of mineral oil. ;-)
