The K2/KBT2 works well, but is very heavy compared to the K2 without KBT2.
Oddly enough, I prefer my K1 for holiday and camping use, due mainly to the
lower weight and smaller size. The K2/KBT2 weighs 6 lbs amd feels like it's
got a couple of house bricks in the case. For several months use, I'd have
to think long and hard between the K1 and K2 as the band limitations of the
K1 may be a factor. Beware of the 14 volt supply requuirement in order to
charge the battery in the KBT2.
You might also consider the Mountain Ops Tac Pack to help protect your K2,
Mountain Ops went through a sticky patch recently and have sold their
business - details on their web site: http://www.mountain-ops.com/
