Yes, up to a point. I did continue with the RF board assembly up to the 
first power-on test.  I wasn't comfortable performing the power-on tests 
with the encoder hanging by its leads.

Impatient to continue, today I enlarged the mic hole with a Burr-Qwik 
tool.  It did a fair job, but the hole is now a little off-center. It's 
good enough to let me proceed until the replacement arrives.
