Speaking of changing the sidetone pitch and readjusting the BFO filter
settings for the new pitch, I had a problem crop up with my new Orion
which automatically allows you to change the pitch and still have the
narrow CW xtal roofing filter passband stay aligned with the DSP
passband. Mine worked ok initially, but about a week ago something
happened and that fearure no longer worked properly so the Orion is on
its way back to Ten-Tec for R&R.

It's no big problem with the K2 that the passband does not automatically
follow the pitch because you just set it up for the CW pitch you intend
to always use it at.

In the meantime, I've ordered the KDSP2 for my K2. I still preferred my
FT-1000MP over the K2 because it had steeper skirts on the narrow CW
filters and hopefully the KDSP2 will change compensate for this.

Also, I hadn't used the K2 during the winter 160-meter contests at my
salt lake bed QTH because of the temperature extremes there, but the
toroid mod completely cured the BFO temperature drift and the thermistor
mod completely cured the PLL temperature drift. The KDSP2 should make my
K2 complete, so if I do the balloon-supported vertical thing there again
next winter, the K2 will be the contest rig.
