[Elecraft] CW operating question - [SPLIT]. [REV] and [F LOCK]

To expand just a wee bit on Ron's method of operating... SPLIT, that is...

For those of you who will eventually use SPLIT mode to try and work those
DX stations (maybe even locals) who transmit and listen on different
frequencies, DON'T FORGET THE [F LOCK] BUTTON on your K2.

I can't count the number of times I've caught myself accidently tuning the
VFO I just set to the DX station's TX frequency, thinking I was tuning the
secondary VFO (which I'm using to find the station the DX is talking to).
As a result, I end up NOT hearing the DX station and NOT realizing I'm not
hearing him until I re-tune back to his TX freq.

Once you establish the transmit (RX) frequency of the fella you want to
listen to, and have hit [A=B] to 'synch' both VFOs to that frequency, press
the [F LOCK] button to prevent you from tuning the MAIN VFO off the
station's TX frequency.

Now, since he's listening on a different frequency (generally a few kHz
higher), press-hold the [REV] button so you switch the your secondary VFO
(the VFO you'll eventually use for transmitting, but with which you're
going to tune for the station the DX is listening to.

Even though you've hit the [F LOCK], when [REV] is pressed you WILL be able
to tune the secondary VFO as if [F LOCK] was not engaged. BUT, as soon as
you release the [REV] button you're taken back to your MAIN VFO and it's
still locked onto the frequency of the station you want to work... leaving
the secondary VFO (your TX VFO) now locked at the frequency you last tuned
it to, presumably the freq. of the guy he's working.

This a very handy feature of the K2 and one which will make your DXing life
a LOT easier in the end.

Thanks Ron, for getting me started... heheh!
