Yes, I did and thanks to all who sent me great ideas.

N0SS suggested I hold the board up to a strong light and I spotted the
problem immediatly, D5 had not been installed. I vaguely remember in half
slumber something about there being only 2 of the glass diodes, but it
completely slipped my mind. Hopefully that is the only mistake I made. I'll
find out tomorrow if I can find one in town.

Thanks

Subject: SSB Module

Hi John

I don't know if you resolved your problem or not, so I will pass my
experience on to you.

I had a simular problem as you describe. I'm lucky enough to have 2 K2's so
it allowed me to take the SSB module out of the good K2 to try in the one
that didn't work.

I looked and looked at the bad one and all seemed well. I was just sure
that the toroids T1 & T2 were OK. Well, one wasn't. One lead wasn't making
good RF contact , which allowed some signal through, but very degraded. One
of the leads that looked like it had a good solder job, didn't. Looking at
the schematic diagram I relized that the electronics on the board have
nothing to do with the signal flow, no electrical connection between them.
Basicly if you got rid of all the IC's and transistors on that board a IF
signal should go through it just fine (no loss). I would consentrate my
efforts to the passive circuits around the toroids and switching diodes
dealing with the filter circuit.

I was over confident in my toroid construction and installation after
building 2 K2's and a K1, not to mention all the acessories.

John
