This means there is an auxbus timing problem.

As soon as the K2 MCU once has a problem with talking to the DSP, it assumes
the DSP is not there and refuses to attempt to talk to it again until the
next power cycle.

HHmmm.  Make sure the K2 secondary menu function that enables the RTC
display has not somehow gotten disabled.

Unbutton the radio and see if it works again.  Make sure no cables are
routed too tightly behind the DSPx module that might cause things to get put
under mechanical strain.  If it is a K2/100, be sure the foam tape in
correctly in place and that the pressure from the tape is pushing the DSPx
into the KDSP2 and not pushing the whole assembly down toward the RF board.

If you have a remote KAT100 connected, disconnect it and see if the KDSP2
works again.

I assume this is the latest version, with MCU firmware 3.00?
