[Elecraft] KAT2 Question

I wondered about something similar, though my recollection of the
instructions is a little different. I was chasing an intermittent problem
in my K2 that seemed to go away when I squeezed the KAT2 boards together, so
I took the split washers out entirely, suspecting that the connector pins
weren't long enough or something. It didn't help, as the intermittent fault
turned out to be in the antenna feedline adapter and not in the radio at all
(relief mixed with anger - I thought you weren't supposed to learn about
that until you raise teenagers). Once everything was working and the tuner
fits together a little more snugly than before, I buttoned it up and went to
bed, satisfied.

I'm not inclined to change it back - the components still don't quite touch
each other. I'd be just barely prepared to believe, now that I think about
it again, that the spacing is not about making things fit, but actually
about not coupling control circuitry noise directly to the feedlines.

Surely not, right? (yeah, I could've changed it quicker than writing this
email, I know...)
