[Elecraft] #3544 better now

I wouldn't be overly concerned yet. The bands have been highly variable
of late. Conditions have frequently been very poor. Not only have
signals been weak to non-existent, the background noise has also almost
disappeared on such occasions. I would check it out late at night, say
after 10 PM. I've noticed that propagation, if there is any, generally
improves by then. In fact, last night, there was quite a bit of DX on
both 20 and 40 meters. So it is a day to day situation.

I found my radio had an over-active AGC which was smothering
signals. When I learned how to turn AGC off the receiver came to life!
I then adjusted the AGC so that turning it on did not cause a
decrease in weak signal volume.

Thanks all! I am open to further sugestions also!
