It may be that the same LC combination was the best choice in both cases. (The
KXAT1's smallest L and C are larger than those in the KAT1 or KAT2, so this
wouldn't surprise me.) The ATU also has some stray reactance that will interact
with an antenna differently than it does with a purely resistive load.

It doesn't retune unless you enter TUNE mode. Most of the time you don't; you
just change bands and the last-used settings are recalled.
