ORDER QUICK!!! They may still have what you REALLY need. IF you know what
you REALLY need... <G>

You may well be able to fine a 'wire gauge' high carbon steel drill bit
which will allow you to drill out the crud and to return the tip to more
normal use.

0.8mm = 0.031". You'd probably want to try to find a #70 (0.028") or #69
(0.0292") wire gauge drill bit. And you'll want to turn it SLOWLY. If you
break it off in the tip, you're screwed pal! Been there, done that!

>I can't imagine wanting a larger tip for fine PCB work (1.0, 1.3 and 1.6
>mm are listed for the 707) but there is a 0.8mm "slim nozzle"
>listed. Sounds like that might work for reaching in between things on the

The Hakko 808 kit comes with a 1.0 mm tip. I bought a couple additional
tips to make things a bit easier in certain circumstances:

Tip A1394 A long (0.43"), slender 1.0 mm tip which allows me
to stick the tip down in between close-together
components and not burn whatever's next to the
              component I'm working on.

Tip A1007 A 1.6 mm ID tip which will slip down around some
larger diameter leads (and some lugs) to allow me
to remove more than just small components.

If you can get the slim nozzle, it'll probably be a worthwhile purchase.
It's a bit 'delicate' (if it's like the 1.0 mm slim nozzle I have), but
it'll work wonders when you're in the midst of a tightly populated PC
board. DO NOT use it for general purpose desoldering though... the tip is
long and delicate enough that an errant bump can either bend or break it
off. Use it, then replace it with the notmal tip.

If you go to the Hakko USA web site:

      http://www.hakkousa.com/

On the lefthand column, under Press Center, you can download their general
products catalog.

Again, on the Home page, left column, under Products, you can download
their Tips and Nozzles catalog as well.

Good luck,
