I have found my temperature controlled iron more than adequate to tin =
the
leads. I turn the temperature all the way up (800 + F, 425 + C) AND use =
the
larger diameter solder so that I get more flux. The higher temperature
takes it right off, tins up real clean. Don't forget to turn it back =
down
to ~ 650 - 700 for normal soldering.!!!!!
If you can find a BIG metal working iron, cheap, then drill a small hole =
in
the tip, set the iron in a stand that will not tip over, and fill the =
hole
with enough to make a mini solder pot.
