[Elecraft] Help: Flashing F in cw mode

I've been away from my K2 for a while and I having memory problems ( my 
memory) on how to operate.
I 'm experiencing two problems;
1.  In the cw mode display I see c then every so long an F appears.  Also 
the u and l are flashing in SSB mode..
2.  In the cw mode I can't get the pre/att to switch, all I get is a 
message "FPLY 4"   Ican switch pre/att in the SSB modes.

I've been reading all the up grades instructions for Audio filter/Real time 
Clock, Aus I/O module, KNB2 Noise blanker. etc and nothing jumps out 
explaining how I got to the above conditions.  i know I've seen the 
flashing F before, but I can't rember why it happens.
