[Elecraft] Resolution of Yaesu DIN Connector Problem

Here is the answer to my question about the Band Data connector for the 
FT-1000MP. Thanks to those who provided pieces of the answer.

Although the Yaesu documentation calls this connector a "DIN connector," 
according to Yaesu Customer Support it is actually a special item that 
actuates a switch on insertion that shorts the TX key line inside the 
radio. The former part number P0090160 was under $2.00 so Yaesu would 
provide it free of charge in unit quantity. However, it has been 
discontinued, replaced by P0090651 which lists at $2.39. Since this is 
over $2.00, they add $4.00 shipping! All this to replace a nominal $0.59 
part. Yuck.

Of course, a dealer might be willing to order the part along with other 
things being routinely ordered from Yaesu.
