[Elecraft] k2 expansion kit

Hi

I have been doing this for a year or so. In fact I just ordered a couple =
of sets of the internal connectors from Elecraft. I always install all =
of the module connectors even if the modules are not installed in the =
kit yet. The cost is small and it makes installing the modules a snap. I =
agree Elecraft should make a kit of parts that includes all of the =
connectors for the modules and the parts that go on the front panel for =
the SSB module. That way someone could build his basic K2 ready for the =
modules that he may want to install later. Or someone like me that =
builds K2's for other people could install all of the connectors for =
later assembly and installation of the modules. I know the parts come in =
the module kits but sometimes people do not get all of the modules when =
they get the K2, but I would guess most people will eventually install =
all or most of them. This would save a lot of disassembly when the =
modules are purchased.

  Ben,

I think that's a SUPER idea. One of the real headaches I've run into =
with
optional modules is having to remove the Control board (and the KAF2 =
or
KDSP2) in the process. The removal of covers and the heat sink ranks =
right
up there with the most un-fun parts of Elecraft building!

When the heat sink is removed, there is more than a little risk at =
screwing
up the power amp transistor mounting, developing a short, and spending =
time
  and bux fixing broken stuff.

The obvious drawback is the manual and documentation re-writes to =
change to
adding the option parts up front.

I like the idea, anyway, but I don't write the manuals, or manage =
inventory,
etc. This idea may fall way to the bottom of the priority queue.
