I may be picking on the wrong thing here but I do not understand the reason
for any kind of Y cable.

I have seen a few posts about this problem and every time there is a large
number of replies that basically say "it works for me".

Based upon my confusion above I am wondering if there is something slightly
ambiguous about how the required circuit is described that has caused a few
to build the interface cable incorrectly?

It is also possible that the K2 connector might be mis-wired but I cannot
think of how it would also work correctly in manual mode.

I suggest that one of those experiencing this problem get together with
somebody nearby who says it works and compare the two possible sources of
error to see what is wrong.  It could be a firmware thing but right now I
would suspect a wiring issue until the comparison test proves otherwise.

Just my thoughts.
