between CW characters:

Hearing yourself like this is common when the band is open to SP & LP at
the same time & the F/B on the antenna is not so good.  Sometimes I've
found LP to be better than SP _despite_ the additional hurdle of overcoming
F/B...

Absolutely no fun when one's antenna has no F/B, or when the station you're
working is coming through both directions at about the same strength - the
slight additional delay on the LP does a pretty good job of making it sound
like a slightly amplitude-modulated carrier.
