[Elecraft] K2-CW auto-detect

Anyone have this problem?

I wired the CW auto-detect using 2 1N4148 diodes as diagramed in the manual.
I made a Y cable about 6 inches long.  The diodes are in a 1/8 inch female
connector which mates to a male connector to my key.  They are 6 inches from
the 1/8 inch stereo that mates to the K2.

The problem is when I start using the key, the auto-detect fails about every
10 to 20 key strokes and starts to send iambic dah-di-dah-di ....  until I
lift the key.

The Y cable looks good.  There are no visible or electrical shorts.  I tried
putting a parallel cap across the key terminals which ended up not really
working.

Any ideas?
