[Elecraft] K2 A to B upgrade

Hi Elecrafters

I am considering doing the full A to B upgrade on my K2 #1781. 

The upgrade instructions do not mention replacement of the filter
crystals and I cannot find any information on the website regarding the
need to or advantage to be gained from replacing the crystals. I do note
however that these are available from Elecraft at $15 for a complete
set.

Please can someone help me with an explanation.

After doing the upgrade I will also probably build the 100w PA. I note
that in the A to B upgrade instructions there is mention of upgrading
the firmware etc. My versions are 2.01 and 1.02. Do I need to do any
firmware upgrading for the A to B conversion or do some upgrades come as
part of the KPA 100 kit.
