[Elecraft] When reporting Switching Power Supply Results...

Good point Tom. I've tried to do that (describe
antenna situation) in my reports about switcher
noise. To be fair, I think my situation (end fed
long wire, terminated in shack with manual
antenna tuner) could fairly be said to be a 'worst
case' scenario.
Update on my Samlex 1223 report follows--
HRO replaced the Samlex 1223, and let me try
out an Astron SS-25 as well. The new Samlex is
a BIG improvement over the first (obviously defective
unit), and its performance is indistinguishable (RFI wise)
from the Astron. Both switchers, however, do show
small (half to 1 bar on the K2 meter) increase of wide
band noise over the linear Astron RS-35. This is
probably to be expected given I'm not using coax or
balanced line feedlines. The Astron SS-25 is a bit
heavier and larger than the 1223 (i.e. not as ideal for
travel purposes), but out of the box it reads 14.45 volts
on the output of the PS and 13.7v on the K2 internal
meter (nice, no adjustment needed, if you want to float
feed the K2 internal battery).
Verdict? I will try to adjust the voltage output of the
1223, and if successful, go with it, given the advantages
mentioned.
However, I can't get to the output adjustment given
my more pressing ATU problem [see separate cry
for help].
Will give final update on adjustment sucess when/if
accomplished.
Thanks, John N6JW
