[Elecraft] AGC Action (Was: low-noise 40m RX antenna)

While we're on the subject, I'll throw in one of my minor gripes about
the K2 (actually they are all minor... compared to death and taxes at
least). 

My gripe is that the "AGC Speed" also affects the RF Gain control! If
AGC is set to Slow (as I always have it) the RF Gain control is sluggish
because the same time constant is applied to changes in the control
position as are applied to changes from AGC action. 

I've been holding off mentioning that because I don't like to serve any
whine before its time...

Hi, Gene, it's a snap, er, a push of the button lableled "AGC" toggles
between FAST and SLOW; as you already know, pressing PRE/ATT and AGC at
the same time disable the AGC circuit as a toggle -- the same button
press turns it back on.
