We're all very sorry about your unfortunate experience with parts.
However, you must recognize that your experience was an exception to 
the normal Elecraft standard.
Moreover, the normal Elecraft standard is vastly better than most companies'.

Just to get specific, I have got a Sony VAIO Picturebook - a tiny but 
full Windoze laptop - to control and log for my K2 using MixW.  It 
plus the K2 makes a small, light, portable and  extremely nifty 
combination.

However, I got my Picturebook in spite of the best efforts of the 
Sony Canada  sales and customer support organization, which seems 
dedicated to preventing anyone from actually buying and using Sony 
product. Just to give one example out of several, they were out of 
stock when I ordered one essential piece, so THEY REFUSED TO TAKE MY 
ORDER. Back-ordering is not a service provided by Sony Canada. Nor is 
keeping inventory of essential pieces. I'm not making this up.

So, we must keep things in perspective, as several listers have said.
