[Elecraft] VHF Transverters

Hello-
I have seen some discussion previously regarding re-packaging VHF
transverters into the EC-2 enclosure. If someone is interested in building a
transverter, such as to install in an EC-2, let me describe to you my plans.
Anyone familiar with the older MM series of transverters may appreciate
this. A "last generation" transverter, very similiar but not entirely
identical, of this old design has survived and I have had a batch of boards
made up. I made some improvements regarding problems from the past { mainly
traces too thin for current, etc.}. There is a main board and a 15 watt PA
board. The receive converter can be built with dual gate MOSFET or
DG-GAaSFET front end. There is a lot of flexibility as to how this unit can
be outfitted. Performance of this version is a little better than the older
type, there is improved filtering and standard US parts used. Same boards
for 144 or 220 Mhz.
Over the last couple of years I have been buying parts and have built up
a fair supply. Am going together now with a 220 Mhz. unit. There is a chance
that if all works out I could furnish a small qty. { around 10 or so} "kits"
,so to speak, containing boards and all the hard to find parts. I have been
developing building instructions as of late. This is not for profit but I
would like to recover some of the parts cost and to promote some activity
perhaps. Perhaps builders of more skill and experience may help me in
getting the units "just right", if you will, such as into the EC-2. I feel
this is a very specialized endeavor and only people who really are fond of
this type equipment { air wound coils, film trimmers,dual gate MOSFETS,etc.}
would enjoy building it.Maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself but I
wanted to see if there was any interest? Thank you, Byron, WA5THJ.
