[Elecraft] Palm Mini Paddle quick mount?

Guess I should start by saying that K1 #1366 is now alive over here in
G-Land. Popped together far quicker than I thought...so quick that I don't
have a key to use with it!
I'm thinking of getting a Mini Paddle from Palm Radio (www.palm-radio.de)
but I'm not sure about mounting it with their 'Quick Mount'.
I want to fix it to the case (I don't have the tilt stand) but am not keen
on drilling holes just yet. Has anyone tried one of these keys with the
magnetic version of their 'Quick Mount'?
How firm was it?
Do the magnets have an effect on the VFO?
Any thoughts?
