10W on SSB is not too much. When conditions are right, one can work
anyone if one can wait that long. If one wants to make a contact within
a 30 min window (e.g., when wife and kids are absent), 100W increase the
chances much but a 2 el quad increases that to a certainty.

One way to help with 10W is an RF speech processor, which can increase
the average power about 4 times. This makes K2 sound as 40-60W station.
DF4ZC makes small processors that fit into  a microphone. They are
amazing pieces that actually contain 2 602 mixers, an amplifier and 2
ceramic filters + an electret microphe. He ships his boards for <$70. I
tried his design. The increase in punch is real. One needs to be careful
to adjust clipping so as not to overdrive, and K2 compression needs to
be off.
