I have been using the K2 to receive shortwave stations and it works pretty
well.
Would it be possible to add 25m receive coverage (11.5 - 12.1 MHz) to the
60m upgrade board. With the 60m board, we should be able to receive the
5.7 to 6.2 MHz SWL band. This would allow receiving most of the
main SWL bands.
The K2 can receive shortwave stations quite well, especially DX and it
works well in crowded bands. I have changed one filter width to 2.45 KHz
and removed c180 and it sounds a lot better on SWL (just using the CW
filters). The SSB option will get built shortly with the 2nd Xtal Mod.
When tuning SWL stations, first tune the station so it sound correct on
USB & LSB. Then set the tune rate to 1 KHz. SWL stations are exactly 5
KHz apart, so it is easy to tune them. It would be great if a 5 KHz step
were added.
It is fun to use the CW Rev key to switch from on sideband to the other in
a crowded band - many times it will be totally unreadable on one side, but
perfect copy on the other.
I don't listen to medium wave, but thought others might like this and
improve the appeal of this add-on. It would be handy in a emergency or
camping out.
It is nice to listen to arabic, chinese or hindu music while soldering on
some K2 option kit.
Thanks
