[Elecraft] KAT100 use with an installed KAT2

I figured you guys at Elecraft had it all figured out. Thanks very much.

I had not intended to get the 100W option and external tuner. I figured I
could use my K2 for QRP work and my Kenwood TS-2000 for higher power work.
What changed my mind completely was my attempt in the CQWW CW contest this
past weekend. I started out the first day with the K2 but half way through
the contest I was just having too hard a time making those foreign contacts
with 5 watts so I switched to the TS-2000. Boy what a difference. It made
my ears hurt. I don't care what I did to the Kenwood, narrow the bandwidth
to 50hz, use the DSP CW filter, shut off the preamp, turn on the attenuator,
all I got was so much garbage in my headphones that I couldn't believe it or
stand it! I switched back a few times to the K2 and it was just
unbelievable how quiet the bands were, just as if there was only one station
transmitting on a very quiet band. I stayed with the TS-2000 because they
could hear me but I sure longed for the K2's receiver. It didn't take me
long to come to the conclusion that I NEEDED the KPA100 and KAT100! So I
ordered the tuner now and maybe Santa will get me the KPA100.

Roger,

The K2 firmware is savvy enough to handle all possible combinations of KAT2,
KAT100, and KPA100. You don't have to do a thing. If there's a KAT2 and a
KAT100
OR KPA100 in the system, the KAT2 is placed in "CALP" mode (essentially
bypassed), and its antenna 1 jack is selected. The ATU menu entry is then
taken
over by the KAT100, as is the ANT1/2 switch.
Just connect the ANT1 jack on the KAT2 to the RF IN jack on the KAT100...
