[Elecraft] When to add BFO Mod Kit

Hi,
I read with interest of the spec changes to be made to kits serial #3000 onwards and the future availability of a full upgrade kit. To avoid unnecessary desoldering (:>( can Eric/Wayne/anybody advise at what stage these mods are best fitted? I guess this will be a factor of the mod.kit availability.I have just completed building the control board and am about to start on the front panel. Any advice appreciated.
