After having seen quite a few interesting queries show up on this list without ever  seeing them answered, I have to concur with Ron AC7AC that it is helpful when those astute replies show up here for the edification of all. I also believe it initiates healthy debate- if someone isn't comfortable sending their reply to a relevant question to the reflector, then maybe it shouldn't be sent at all...
 
That said, I admit to answering  questions in this fashion from time to time myself when I am feeling a lil bashful, the question is off topic I or want to toss out some trite little morsel that could prove helpful yet is not worth bothering the list for.
