The Working Group for Ham Radio and Telecommunication in Schools here in
Germany has solved your problem. Now you don't cannibalize your rigs and
meters. ;o))
The gang had cutted a small PCB and soldered an IC 78S09 (or 78L09) and
the two contacts from an old 9 volt battery as the main parts on it. The
PCB size is the same as the battery size. Please see the scanned pictures
