John,
I'll echo the sentiments of the rest. Just go for it! The K2 is no more
difficult than any other kit, maybe just bigger. Get a good soldering
iron/station with a fine tip, take your time, follow the directions - that's
it! If you run into ANY problems post them here to the list and the
experienced builders and the Elecraft folk with give you all the help you
need! You'll not regret doing a K2 and I am certain you can do it if you
can solder decently. If you want to brush up your soldering, just go get
some junk parts and a predrilled circuit board from Radio Shack for a few
bucks and practice a bit.
73 and good luck! :-)

Subject: [Elecraft] In training for K2...
Hello all,
I'd love to build the K2 but feel I need a bit of a kit-
building refresher before tackling such a project. (Last
Heathkit I built was in the early 70s!).
I'm thinking about building a K1 first, but don't know if
I'll have the funds to do both a K1 and K2.
Can anyone suggest a QRP project I might tackle that would be
good preparation for the K2 (perhaps a Wilderness SST or
something similar)?
Thanks, John Pfeifer - KL0WN - Kodiak, Alaska
