[Elecraft] Ham Radio SW for the Mac Qs

Folks,
The shine on the lure has dulled considerably.
First off the HAM software availability seems quite limited: The best
I found was:
http://www.ac6v.com/software.htm#MAC
I heard no compelling reasons to want to use any of the Mac software
available.
Also, the new iBooks don't have a serial port, so rig control software
is problematic. There are USB to Serial converters, but success with
those seems mixed.(1)
Finally, by the time I got Mac versions of all the other software I
now use on the PC; (Firewall, Antivirus, text editor(2),
quicken...etc) I'd be out another $500 or more.
No thanks, I'll hold my current position for a while.

(1) This is also a problem on some WinTel machines. I have a notebook
computer like this. I use Digipan for PSK-31 and drive my rig in VOX
mode, works great.
(2) MS Notepad is not an editor, it is a TOY! TextPad www.textpad.com
and NoteTab www.notetab.com/ are products worthy of the "text editor"
label. (I'm an ex vi and Emacs "power user" ;-)
