[Elecraft] K2 VCO-Test

Hi
Sorry but the little switch only affects the voltmeter function not the f=
requency counter so that is not your problem. You need to find out if the=
counter is working on not. Measure the 4 MHZ oscillator. If you get a go=
od reading there then the signal at TP1 is low or non existent. Look for =
a bad solder joint or wrong component in the reference oscillator. If the=
4 MHZ measurement does not work then check the counter probe. It is easy=
to make it wrong. The most likely problem is reversed pins in the connec=
tor.
Speaking of the little switch. I think I will remove it and place a jumpe=
r across the pins so it is always in the battery check function. I don't =
now how many times I have had to remove the cover to switch it back becau=
se I accidentally bumped it when doing something in the radio. I know if =
I would leave the cover on it would never happen but you just can't leave=
these little radios alone. There is always something you want to try or =
you want to show it off to someone. I guess you could put a little dab of=
silicone rubber on the switch if you didn't want to remove it and jumper=
it out. =20
I think the most common questions on the reflector are "I lost my sideton=
e" and "I get a low battery message" both caused by a switch in the wrong=
position, one a software switch in the menu and the other the battery/vo=
ltmeter switch.

Yes, switch that little switch on the control board to the other
position, Karl-Heinz; You have left it in the voltmeter setting.
