K2 # 700 will be in back country areas of NM, CO, UT, WY, and MT during the
next two weeks. Chaco Canyon, Natural Bridges, Arches, Dinosaur,
Ylellowstone, Glacier. Operation will be from a van-camper using a homebrew
20 meter Moxon array at 25 feet on a push-up mast. Most activity will be
after dinner in the evenings. If 20 fails, wire arrays for 30 and 40 are on
board.

The portable Moxon array weighs ten pounds and builds in about ten minutes
with no tools using telescoping fishing poles bowed upward from a center hub
to support it.

Operators will be John, K1JD, who has built five K2's, and me. We will use
two different club calls depending upon our activity: N5FOC will be used
about 14.025, and W5YA will be used around 14.060.

Primary activity will be hiking, but radio after dinner! Hope to work some
of you, and we wish everyone FUN with their Elecraft radios!

W5YA was active on field day as 1B-2op QRP battery. 750 QSO's were made
from a ridge near Chama, NM. Area was enveloped in forest fire smoke, the
blood red full moon cast a pall over the otherwise beautiful scene. Other
op was Steve, WD9FJL, builder of several elecraft radios, and a 15 meter
portable Moxon array.
