Most of the helicoils I have seen take a larger piece of aluminum than the
posts in the K2, in order to seat them.  You have to drill oversize from the
original hole, destroying any leftover thread.  If it is the heat sink, then
it is possible.  There is another type of nut insert used with aluminum
where the threaded part is press fitted to the aluminum stock, after
drilling a hole.  Hopefully, they will now have them in the smaller
electronic sizes.  Check out Small Parts Inc. in FL for them in small
quantity.
