Since the KIO2 installs in the top cover, you will have to remove it 
when you install the KPA100. So, yes, if your K2 is going to be set up 
in the 100W configuration full-time, the KIO2 will be wasted. (So will 
the KAT2, since I believe you will also have to remove it.)

On the other hand, if you ever want to go back to the QRP-only 
configuration (by putting the original top cover back on), you can put 
your KIO2 back in (it's probably stil attached to the original cover, 
after all) and get computer control capability. Just what you'll want 
for QRP Field Day operation.

So - wasted or not? It all depends on how you plan to use your radio.
