For what its worth, I have used Astron Power Supplies for many years. I have
two VS35M supplies, one RS20A supply, and one RS12A. I used the RS12A when I
was running the K2 without the KPA100. Anyone who is running a 100 watt
transceiver can use a RS20A with full confidence. The foldback current
limiting will not activate on this power supply at 20 amps and it even runs
relatively cool. So don't worry about using the RS20A with your K2 and you
just might save yourself some money. If you do not intend to run anything
else but the K2/100 and KAT100, you dont need the Astron RS or VS35M. The
transformer and those two 3771 pass transistors on the heatsink of the 20A
will power the K2/100 with no sweat! All of my power supplies are very
quiet. I just keep them out of the range of the K2 (a foot or so).
Occasionally there is a mechanical vibration that is cured by either touching
the top of the cabnet or setting something on the top. Roy Morris W4WFB
