[Elecraft] K2 control board R1 (50k pot)

K2 s/n 3080 control board part No e520011 agc threshold 50k trimmer.

The supplied part (which looks different from photo in parts list) has =
waisted legs which means that they only partially  pass thru pcb holes and =
the pot remains proud of the board by about 5mm (1/4 inch).

the mannual states that the pot must be seated flat against the board but =
this is not possible. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
