And I'm using a 102' G5RV with 30 some feet of 300 ohm twinlead directly 
connected to about 50' coax.  With the K2 and KAT2 tuner I get less than 
1.5:1 on all bands 160 M and 10 M.

I suppose I could do the same thing if I added a balun, but then I'd be out 
the $10 or more that the balun cost.

If people answer you and your CQ's without a balun ..... and give you RST's 
that start with a 5 ..... and don't hang up on you after 20 minutes or more 
..... save the $10 or more for that balun and put it towards another kit!
