I have the same with my K2 using a manual key and the Rev. 2.01H firmware.
The ONLY things that bring output back are moving the POWER knob as Lou
mentions - and moving it significantly - OR hitting TUNE. Once the "no power
out" condition is initiated I can switch through all the bands and it will
not produce r-f until I hit TUNE or change the POWER knob setting.

A single key closure in TEST mode will initiate the "no power out"
condition, but the key must be held closed for between 1 and 2 seconds.

It was a long time before I noticed it even though I routinely put the K2 in
"TUNE" when I'm not actually operating to avoid accidentally keying the rig.
I guess that when I hit the key and didn't see the output I intuitively
'twiddled' the POWER control and got the r-f I was looking for.
