Eugene, Chuck, , Dick, Andy and others that have been following this thread.
As per part of Eugene's original question on using QSK with the DXbase
INTERFACE and a microHAM keyer, there is a very good workable work-around.
It should be noted that I did not see the answer without some excellent
input on the reflector from the above Ops.
First, to those who's equipment does not handle QSK or have never used this
'full-duplex' CW method, try it if you can. Those of us that do use QSK on
CW already know how valuable a tool it can be.
As a stand-alone keyer, with the microHAM product there never has been a
problem configuring it for QSK operation. The problem ONLY happens when
using DXbase as the primary CW control interface. Using the DXbase interface
allows an Op to interface directly to logging portion of the DXB software as
well as using the built-in variables inside a macro. If you do not use the
DXbase CW features then none of this will apply to you.
My original fix on my station was not to use the microphone plug from the
micro Keyer. With help from the above Ops I found another option for Eugene
and others who may wish to try/use QSK.
1: In router software from microHAM disable PA PTT if you don't use an
amplifier. This is where the loud relay clicking I mentioned in a previous
posting was coming from. The good people at microHAM have incorporated a
Solid State circuit that can also be used. Please check their manual to see
if you can use the S/S option and how set it up. It was Chuck who was kind
enough to give me this hint.
2: In DXbase > Tools > Options > CW Options + Winkey Options tab. Under 'Pin
5 Config'uration select 'Tone'. I can only guess that tone is used on the
original K1EL board, it is not used the microHAM configuration. If Jack or
others wish to clarify the use of 'Tone' please do. Thanks to Andy for this
valuable hint.
3: On your rig select BK-in OFF or BK-in FULL, both work equally fine on my
Icom.
Now go work some CW using QSK.
FINI.

I have DXB 2006 ver. 1.0.3. If I start DXBase BEFORE I switch on my
radio (which powers my keyer), everything is fine. But if I have keyer
on when I start DXBase, or I use keyer configuration screen, DXBase
disables the speed knob (which I always use to adjust my speed), and
enables PTT line. Is it a bug or a "feature"? I do not want PTT line
enabled when I use CW (I use QSK), and I want my speed control by the
pot, not mouse.
Any ideas?
