Hi Glenn,

It sounds like a problem with the radio hex address.

I don't believe 6.0x series supports Pro III directly.

In the Pro III, change the hex address code to 5Ch, which is the code for the
756 Pro.  Then tell DX4WIN you are using a 756 Pro.  Make sure the baud rate in
the software matches the baud rate in the radio.

Then he should be all set.

There are no issues with hardware COM ports in WinXP.
