Hi Stan, tnx for your comprehensive reply. 

You as many others have started your reply by stating you have not read
the article by John Stephensen,KD6OZH,  in the Sept/Oct 2002 issue of QEX
I urge all who are interested in this subject to do so..This article is
the crux of my suggestion..In  addition in my original e-mail I would
have done better to suggest  the replacement of the EZ Lite kit by a
small board with PLDs which is really what I was thinking. As I read
John's article this can be done with a parts and cost reduction and with
existing software tools. It also appears that utilization of  PLDs in
other areas of the DSP-10 could be made with even further parts and cost
reductions.

I am looking forward to see what happens with radio amateur DSP XCVRs  in
the near futures.
