[DSP-10] Various Ezlite part numbers

Darn, sorry about that, I took the ADI web page at face value and finding
the DOS files is not that easy. Below is a repost from Peter G3XJP that Bob
posted back in September.

I did verify the URL Peter gave and it does work. The two DOS files
DISK1.ZIP and DISK2.ZIP are there.

Folks,
I recently purchased an EZKITLITE and have a cautionary tale ...... for
anyone who has purchased recently - or who does so from now on.

In recent months the software environment shipped with the product has
changed radically to what AD call VisualDSP++. The assembler (and assembler
syntax), linker and loader are now completely different - and you get no
simulator. In 'exchange' for this, you get an Integrated Development
Environment and a C compiler BUT you also get a licence-imposed limit of 8k
(ie 50% for the 2181) on Program Memory.

For DSP-10 devotees, this means you can't load the .exe supplied by Bob -
nor
can you convert Bob's source code to the new version, re-assemble, re-link
and load it .. because it exceeds the 8k licence limit. It took me 3 solid
weeks to discover this.

The solution is to go get the older environment NOW (tomorrow, who knows?)
which can be found at:-
ftp://ftp.analog.com/pub/dsp/21xx/218x/ez-kit-lite/
and you want the 2 files titled disk1.zip and disk2.zip
This is a free download. All the documentation can still be found on the
DSP
Designer's Ref CD shipped with the current product.

This will allow you to continue as if nothing had happened. And remember
that if you ever want to make even the most trivial change to Bob's code,
you
will need these tools. Each tool-set loads into a completely different
directory on your PC - and if you have both versions, there appears to be no
interaction.

This is my first posting on DSP-10, so it is a good moment to record my
appreciation to Bob for his brilliant work - but most of all, for making it
available to us all.

73 all, Peter G3XJP
