[Drake] Tubes???

All you guys are correct of course....but I think the original question
was.....
>>> My question is, which tube is the best one for this application??<<<<

Dan, the best one for your application is the cheapest one....in fact, go to
the next swap meet or hamfest and get a dozen for $6. Use the one that works
the best.
The 12AX7 are a dime a dozen for this application....when you want to play
music through them then you can still use the cheap tubes but you have to
select them by substitution in your amp for the best musical reproduction.
Honestly....years ago I thought this was simply BS but attention to detail
on tube selection for guitar amps will make you a believer.

Anyone who mocks the "warm" sound of tubes hasn't taken the time to hear
what the differance is. I use a Scott 299C tube int amp and there is nothing

solid state made today that I would change it with. When it comes to high fi

they have not equaled the sold of 1960 with solid state as yet.

Do modern receivers "really" out perform a 1951 Collins R-388? I haven't
heard one.
