[Drake] Transmitting Problem...

Hi All;

I just fixed the receive portion of my TR-3. Now I appear to have a
problem with transmit.

I let it warm up for about half an hour, then decided to try and work
someone. After tuning up, I checked power output. 30 watts. Then 35.
  Then 40. I looked at the plate ammeter, and noticed my current had
gone up from .45 to .6 amps.

I followed the tune-up procedure outlined in the manual, have proper
idle current, and SWR is 1.5:1. I transmitted for no longer than five
or six seconds, and allowed an equal amount of time to cool down.

I let it set for a minute or so, and the current on transmit (this is
just tune-up - no mike or key, just the function switch on X-CW) went
back to .45 amps.

What could be the cause of this?
