I just bought a Drake 2NT transmitter and it should be here next week. I've been wanting to put a Drake 2NT/2C station on the air for several years but just never got around to it. I even bought a 2C a few years back for that station but I sold it last year while thinking "Nah I don't need a 2NT/2C station". Now I'm looking for a nice 2C and 2CQ speaker/QMultiplier to finally put that station together :->>>>> What can I say....
I'm planning to use an Eico 722 VFO with the 2NT. That 722 is a stunning looker and should yield a beautiful late 1960's Novice station! The VFO brings up a question. I wonder why Drake never made a matching VFO for the 2NT. A vfo would have been a natural. Drake certainly had the expertise and skills. Because they didn't, I'm assuming that there weren't enough sales of the 2NT to justify the expense of developing a VFO. I remember seeing the Drake 2C around 1969 so I figure the transmitter was out around then as well. There was lots of Novice activity, so the missing VFO is a mystery to me.
Is anyone on here actually using a 2NT/2C/2CQ on the air? What VFO's are you using or are you using crystals?
